Obituary of steven "skip" alan reynolds
Steven Alan Reynolds "Skip", 67, of Destin, Florida departed this earthly life on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
Skip was born in Fort Monroe, VA on August 20, 1954 to Russ and Bea (Nee Fleshner) Reynolds. He graduated from J.I. Case High School in Racine, WI. Skip was given two nominations to the Naval Academy, unfortunately due to his eye he was ineligible. He also received a ROTC scholarship to any college of his choice. He chose Notre Dame and became a proud Fighting Irish Alumni. As a member of the Notre Dame sailing team he gained the nickname Skipper and went by the name Skip all his life. Skip received his bars prior to graduating in 1974 and became a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corp.
His love of auto racing started with racing quarter midgets at the age of four and continued on to stock cars and champ Karts. Racing with his father, brother and nephew. Skip's other passion was bowling. He attained two, 300 games as a league bowler. He was a Certified instructor and taught many youth in the area, taking them to State Competitions to qualify for scholarships.
Skip's work in the computer field let him to various jobs over the years. Monsanto, Government Contracts for the military, tech support for Sony. He was recruited to be a traveling speaker, instructor and consultant programmer at Lee County Coop. He was also Treasurer and program developer for Bea's Interiors and his final job was as a Data programmer for Destin Water Users.
Skip is survived by his parents; siblings, Kelly, Kirk and Michelle Reynolds; son, Shawn (Jill); daughters, Shannon (Michael) Tallon and Courtney Reynolds; grandchildren, Zidane, Alex, Zander, Zoe, Kate, Jayce, Daniel, Jason and Piper; eight nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one nephew.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 2-3 PM at the Destin Community Center, 101 Stahlman Ave., Destin, FL. To honor Skip's love of sailing and his request the family will hold a private ceremony in the Gulf of Mexico at a later date.
