Obituary of jan carol foster

Jan Carol Foster, 77, of Navarre, FL, peacefully took her last breath at 1:25pm with her family by her side in Sunday, July 17, 2022. She was born in June 15, 1945 in Lake City, FL to Naval parents Captain Paul & Betty Jayson, now deceased. The first born in a active duty Navy family, Jan lived in a variety of cities including Detroit, Pensacola, Virginia Beach, Glenbrook, Illinois, and McLean, Virginia. Upon graduating from the Washington School of Secretaries, Jan became a legal secretary at the world's largest commutation law firm, Dow, Lohnes & Albertson in their Washington, DC office. She also worked in the legal departments of Warner Lambert and then at COMSAT in DC prior to having children. Jan was a "Stay-At-Home Mom" when Jennifer and Scott were in middle and high school, creating a "Melting-Pot" for neighborhood kids from several different school. To this day, those kids who are now parents themselves still call her "Mrs. F" and love being known as "The Foster Kids". Jan is survived by her husband of over 55 years, Gerald V. "Jersey Jerry" Foster; son, Loren Schmidt of Lutz, FL; daughter, Jennifer Banner of Navarre, FL; sister, Sally Perkinson of Pensacola, FL; and brother, Chris Jayson of St. Petersburg, FL. In death, Jan is reunited with her son, Scott, who passed away February 21, 1989. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Family-Funeral & Cremation of Mary Esther, FL. A Mass of Resurrection will take place on Friday, August 5th, 2022 at 11am at St. Sylvester Catholic Church on Route 98 in Gulf Breeze (Navarre), FL. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow in the Church's Community Center after Mass. A private family Internment at Barrancas National Cemetery on the grounds of the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL will occur on Monday, August 8th. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donation be made in Jan Foster's name to the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge, 3051 Cloptons Circle, Navarre, FL ~ (850)684-1485. Jan loved her many animals over the years and always had at least one all through her 55+ years of marriage.
