Obituary of john miles wood

John Miles Wood, age 73 of Navarre, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday night, July 10, 2022, after a brief illness. John was born on June 18, 1949 in Bristol, VA where he was a native and settled down in Navarre, Florida in the mid-80's. John was born to parents, Arthur and Neil Vanover Wood who has preceded in death as well as a brother, Kenneth and John's wife, Susan. John proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict. He enlisted in 1967 and left John Battle High School for basic training at Camp LeJeune, NC and basic training graduation in Parris Island, SC. He received several medals during his military career including National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V and many more. John leaves behind his children, John Miles and Kyle Wood; daughters, Danielle and Carolyn; sisters, Mary Amburn-Bowman and husband Richard, Geraldine Anderson Wood; brother, Thomas and wife Teresa; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. John's wishes were to be buried next to his mother, Nell and youngest brother, Kenneth in Bristol, Tennessee. A celebration of life will take place at First Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach on July 18, 2022, with a viewing at 11:00 am and a funeral service at noon with Dr. Howard Gates officiating, prior to his graveside service and burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Bristol, Tennessee.
