Obituary of thomas marius maroney

Thomas Marius Maroney, age 75 of Crestview, Florida passed away on June 25, 2022. Thomas was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 5, 1946, to John Thomas and Marion (nee Ignaszewski) Maroney. He was the 9th child out of 11 brothers and sisters growing up in Brooklyn. After graduating from Grover Cleveland High School at the age of 17, he joined the USAF becoming a HVAC mechanic initially. He was deployed to Vietnam for two tours then came back home and later accepted into Officers Training School. Thomas had many roles in the military including F-16 maintenance officer, field training detachment commander and finally a contract manager at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. In 1990 he retired from the USAF after 26 years of service to his country. One of his many accomplishments while in the service was his participation on the Air Force Air Rifle shooting team and being awarded the Expert Marksmanship Medal that helped qualify him for the 1986 Pan American Games and the 1988 Calgary Olympics. Thomas would go on to teach Air Conditioning & Refrigeration classes at St. Phillips College while having his own air conditioning business named M & M Refrigeration in San Antonio, Texas. He also enjoyed playing handball, bowling, shooting and was an excellent cook during the holidays! Thomas is survived by his current wife, Hilda Maroney; children, Joe Maroney (Sandy), Christopher Maroney (Sandra), Jason Maroney (Mary); grandchildren, Jimmy, Lexi, Parker, Maverick, Makenna and Bailey; great grandchildren, Adalyn, Sarina, Bonnie and Olivia. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Lynda F. Locke; mother, Marion; father, John Thomas and several brothers and sisters. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, August 5, 2022 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78230 at 10AM followed by a Graveside Service at 2PM the same day at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurbach Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78209.
