Somewhat like 16 years ago I met Kent in Amsterdam through our communal friend Wayne. I was straight away intrigued by this kind soul, with his low voice, his natural calm, extreme strength and mysterious past. Although originally not from Amsterdam you quickly became one of the cities iconic characters. I cherish good memories of having conversations about martial arts in Bar Belgique and filming you for a promotional video for MokumSquad. And just as abruptly as you appeared in the city of Amsterdam, you also seemed to have disappeared one day. You will be truely missed Norseman. Rest in Power

I met Kent in 1990 in Jacksonville, Fl. He was a friend of my husband, Scott, and he was an absolute sweetheart. I found his obituary just trying to look up his sisters, Kendra and Kelly. I was so sad to hear of his passing. Prayers and love to the family.

To the family of Kent Ryan Hensley, please accept my deepest condolences. I just found out that Kent passed away and I have been broken hearted since. Even though we lost contact with each other, he made such an impact on my life. We ran into each other in Piedmont Park here in Atlanta in the late 90's and that was the last time we saw each other. He still had that sparkle in his eyes and that gorgeous smile on his face. We spent loads of time together in Jacksonville. We hung out at the beach, danced always and talked about everything. He was such a beautiful person inside and out and I'm so fortunate that he shared a piece of his life with me.
Kent is unforgettable.
I hope you all are doing better by now.

I am deeply saddened to read Kent's obituary. We were close friends during our time in Jacksonville in the early 90s, and Kent was my dancing partner whenever we frequented local spots. His passion for dancing was evident, especially when we both danced to 'How Soon Is Now'? by The Smiths, the song that continues to remind me of him to this day. May Kent continue to rest in peace; he has always and will forever hold a special place in my heart. He was such a kind, loving soul.

John Emil D'Angelo here, Former owner of Pro Rank and NHB promoter in Atlanta, GA. This is sad to come across. All of us in the Atlanta martial arts community loved Kent and often wondered where he ended up after moving away from Atlanta. Many thought he went to Amsterdam but we really didn't know. I met Kent and his friend Kevin circa 1995. They used to come by my store and just hang out and then we would train together occasionally when I felt it was just a good night for me to throw up from complete exhaustion. They were animals...so very tough! I remember Kent testing out my stun guns to see how strong they were. He was a most sincere person and very fun to be around all at the same time. He helped me get NHB going in Georgia. I have some photos and videos of him somewhere in the archives. JohnnyDAngelo@gmail.com Many prayers to his family

I am heartbroken over the loss of Kent. He was a part of me. We met in the early year of 1999, it was love at first sight. We instantly connected, and it was if we knew each other already. His fighter name at that time was "Mohan", but he decided he wanted to change it. I'm half Danish, and we felt like we had known each other in the past, and he felt a connection to the Viking. I gave him a book, "The Last Viking", which he cherished. We came up with "The NorseMan" as his new fighter name. There were alot of things I loved about Kent. He was very intelligent, which many didn't give him credit for. He always read, we played Chess all the time, and slow danced alot. He was very loving, and could be silly. He never raised his voice. He didn't like TV, said it was all about "pretty people", didn't get into sports, except he loved to play basketball. He loved my cooking, and said it brought back his senses(scent and taste), from when he had the head injury from one of his fights. He taught my son alot of fighting techniques, and him and I would spare(I already had fighting skills, so he kept me fresh). We did so many things together, too many to mention, soooooo many wonderful memories. I miss him so much. I look forward to seeing him again in the Paradise prepared for us by Jehovah God.
To his family, I am so sorry for your loss. He is forever in my heart.

One of the many memories, flip the quarter for the Guido's pizza! You win, you get first piece choice, you lose you get 2nd and 3rd piece choice. Is it better to win or lose? It was always a win just having you around.
You certainly led life to it's fullest! You were full throttle diving deep into every adventure giving it your all. Your courage, knowledge, sense of humor, and tender heart was very prevalent and invited others to engage. You have left a significant and lasting impact on our lives, and your infectious smile will not be forgotten.
I am so fortunate to have shared a portion of your life with you.
The memories are treasured.
Much love little brother. Sue

You came into our lives unexpectedly. We hired a laborer but you became a good friend.
Your kindness, wit and intelligence drew us closer to you.
Your work was always impeccable, no matter what the chore.
The world has lost one of the most decent men I have ever become friends with.
I am sure there are kittens in heaven.

I sure miss you my friend. You were one of the best coworkers I’ve ever had. I enjoyed our philosophical conversations.. You are quite the historian. No matter the job you never complained. I would hear a “Norseman” grunt but that didn’t stop you… Moving the rock pile generated a moan instead of a grunt.. Never saw you shy away from anything.. Well there was the time you came across a hornets nest.. I didn’t know you could run that fast! Your sisters trained you well!!!! I hope you continue to work smarter and not harder… I’m honored to call you friend but you fell more like family!!! Always J & G!!!

Ahh...my noble savage. Frau named you aptly. I've been looking back at Jiu-Jitsu pictures and me throwing you around...good times! I'm going to miss our conversations and playing Jeopardy on the phone with Alexa. It was fun sharing Boudicca with you...she's a beauty. This is Chief Hero signing out one last time. You will always be my number one Chief. Take care buddy...love Kenny.
Now for a memory: One of my favorite memories with Kent was when we were working out together at the dojo...not quite sure what this says about me that it's a good memory...anyway, Kent called Sensei over to demonstrate a move that we were debating how to utilize. Of course, Alex used me as the uke, which I never did quite understand. Then he proceeded to haul off and punch me right in the face. Kent was in shock, standing there with his eyes wide and his hand over his mouth; Alex was in shock, and I was pissed. Apparently, I can take a hit. Alex immediately asked me if I was okay. I told him not to ask me how I was because he was going to want me to say, "fine sir" and I didn't feel like calling him "sir" at the moment. Of course, Alex just said, "Oh Kendra." Kent was just shaking his head and trying not to laugh. He said he thought I was going to kill Alex, and I told him later that if I didn't like Alex so much, I may have. After that bit of fun, we continued working out and I said to Kent, " We're not going to call anyone else over to demonstrate anything...right?" Kent said, "No ma'am!" We all had a good laugh about it later...after the bruises healed. Good times!
