I first met Kathy in 1994 after moving into base housing at Eglin AFB. Her husband and I quickly became very good friends. That friendship extended to Kathy, Joey and Alyssa. Kathy used to scold Joe and I for quite a few shenanigans we were involved in, but this was her way of saying she cared. Kathy was definitely a mama bear, being very protective of her family and animals. I remember going with Kathy on a few occasions to go see her horse that she had boarded at a local stable. She let me eventually get on him while he was still green and when I got bucked off one more than one occasion, she would laugh and say "Del, you gotta do better then that." She never let me forget those times. There were times that she and Joe just needed a night out and I gladly became the babysitter to her 2 wonderful children. Though, Kathy was straight forward and sometimes intimidating, she really was a wonderful loving and caring person. I will cherish the times I had with her and with the rest of the family. Joe and I remain close friends and each visit I make to their home always include memories of her. My deepest condolences to Joe, Joey and Alyssa for their loss of a wife and a mother whom they deeply loved. May you fly with the Angels now without pain and look down at the miracle you created in your family.
You will be missed.
