Obituary of Thomas Eddie Nix

Thomas Eddie Nix (Tommy), age 86, passed away on July 25th, 2023 in Pensacola, Florida.  He was born December 25th, 1936 in Florala, Alabama to Murel Smith Nix and Bonnie (Huggins) Nix.

 

Tommy was a member of the first graduating class of Pensacola High School in 1955.  He then joined the Air Force and spent the next 4 years working in the field of aviation electronics.  After his military service, Tommy joined Southern Bell (AT&T) where he worked until his retirement in 1998.  Tommy met his wife Linda after seeing a Pensacola Junior College newsletter containing a picture of her standing next to a small plane.  Tommy often joked that the reason he asked Linda for a date 

was because he thought her family owned the plane and therefore was obviously rich!  Despite the initial misunderstanding, Tommy and Linda married in 1961 and had three daughters - Felicia Nix, Cindy Jones (Randy), and Jill Whitman (Terry).  Cindy and Randy’s son Justin married his high school sweetheart Heather, and they blessed Tommy and Linda with 3 beautiful great granddaughters - Aubree, Carly and Evelyn.

 

Tommy enjoyed golfing, vegetable gardening and sitting around the campfire telling stories.  He never met a stranger and enjoyed long friendships with many of the people he met throughout his life. 

 

There will be a private memorial service for the family, and they ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either Covenant Hospice or a trusted pet rescue organization."
